Find out what percentile your typing speed falls in. Every number on this page comes from real, validated RaccoonType test results — not estimates.
Benchmark data is being generated. Check back soon.
Every typing test submitted through RaccoonType undergoes integrity validation — bot detection, impossible speed filtering, and keystroke consistency checks. Only validated results enter the benchmark dataset.
The percentile is computed using linear interpolation on the sorted WPM distribution. If your WPM is X, the percentile tells you what percentage of validated results fall below X.
This is not a claim about all typists worldwide. It represents the RaccoonType user base, which skews toward people actively practicing typing. Your percentile within this dataset may differ from your percentile in the general population.
Measured fact: The WPM values and percentile ranks are computed directly from validated test results. No estimation or modeling is involved.
Statistical estimate: Percentiles are point estimates. With a small sample size, individual percentiles may shift as more data arrives. The confidence interval narrows as the dataset grows.
Interpretation: "Faster than approximately X% of results" means within the RaccoonType dataset specifically. It does not claim to represent all typists globally. The dataset currently reflects a practice-oriented user base.
A percentile tells you what percentage of benchmark results fall below a given WPM. For example, if you're at the 75th percentile, approximately 75% of results in the dataset are slower than yours.
60 WPM is above the current RaccoonType benchmark median and places a result in the upper-middle range of the distribution. It's a solid typing speed for most work.
80 WPM is substantially above the benchmark median and falls within the top portion of the distribution. It indicates well-developed touch typing skills.
We collect validated typing test results, filter out bot activity and impossible scores, then compute percentile ranks using linear interpolation on the sorted WPM distribution.
The calculator uses net WPM (correct characters only), so accuracy is inherently factored in. A result with lower accuracy will have lower net WPM and therefore a lower percentile.
The benchmark dataset is updated periodically as new validated results come in. Your percentile reflects your position within the current dataset, which grows over time.
Not exactly. Test duration, language, and mode affect results. Short tests may produce higher WPM due to burst speed. The current benchmark includes tests of varying durations.
The benchmark uses all validated, non-bot test results from the RaccoonType platform. The current sample size and date range are displayed on this page.
